Central to the facility's intended use as a brick distribution yard and showroom is a unique storage yard of poured concrete that covers more than 100,000 square feet of the property. Wack General Contractor's hands-on approach to coordination with the subcontractors ensured completion without snags.
The storage yard's large area of non-porous surface posed another challenge — capturing and treating stormwater run-off in accordance with Chesapeake Bay regulations. There wasn't room on the property to construct the usual stormwater retention ponds to gather rainwater running off of the concrete. So, to address the challenge, Wack General Contractor installed special underground stormwater retention structures.
"This was an exceptionally smooth and successful project," says project manager Mike Hamann. "I attribute that to good communication and the collaborative relationship between the superintendent and the client."
